Existing Magazine Titles

I am looking at existing magazines titles in order to get inspiration for my own magazine. The two most popular magazines aimed at my target audience are Top of the Pops and We Love Pop.

Top of the Pops is a good name as it straight away makes it clear what genre the magazine is and this will attract their target audience. It is also alluding to the programme 'Top of the Pops' which the magazine was originally based off, although it has now changed routes and now appeals to a younger and ore definitely female target audience. However this will still appeal to the children parents who will be buying the magazine as this is a reputable brand which the parents probably watched themselves. The fact that it is 'top' implies it is the best or that it only features the best which makes it more appealing than other magazines which contain similar things.

We Love Pop is also an interesting choice of name as it again has the genre in its name which makes it clear straight away what the content will be like. They use a love heart instead of the word 'love' which is appealing as it shows the content is not going to be massively word based and this will attract younger readers and it also looks like an emotion, which is appealing to the teenage audience who are typically obsessed with texting. Love is a very appealing word to this audience as well as they are probably obsessed with the stars featured in the magazine and the use of the word love gives that impression.

There are also pop music magazines which don't necessarily aim their product at the same audience as I am, such as Billboard. This connotes popularity as billboards are a form of advertising, which shows their mainstream target audience. It also shows their artistic and attention grabbing style quite well as billboards have to be bright and colourful to get people to look at them.
