-Different pictures from different events so various
students are shown and therefore interested (prom, sports events, concert band,
school trips)
-Funny or engaging headlines so readers want to read
the articles inside
-Colours that will appeal to the audience or apply to
the school so it is clear what schools magazine it is (green)
-Small boxes containing information about what will
be inside (what interviews will be inside etc)
-Catchy name that stands out on the masthead (Kids of
Steel, Hot off the Press, New Era, eleven-eighteen, CBA survival handbook)
Inside the Magazine
-Include interviews with the head (this will engage
parents who have concerns about the school) and teachers (popular or funny
teachers will interest the students while parents will want to know about their
childrens teachers)
-Include interviews with students which will
entertain the students that feature and their friends. It will get them
involved in the creation of the magazine so they will be interested to see how
it turns out
-Show things the school has achieved since the last issue
which will make proud parents want to read on as well as students who are
inside
-Show exam results and statistics to impress parents
-Fun things (such as puzzles and games) as well as
articles pupils have wrote (eg film reviews or about a recent school trip)
-‘Belles of the Ball’ = prom article’, ‘run ___,
run!’ = sporting article
